Oktober Guard Code Name: RUSLAN

This is another Oktober Guard custom whose name might throw some fans off. Marvel G. I. Joe Issue #105 (1990) introduced the character "Sgt. Misha" as the Oktober Guards new Spetsnaz Trooper. To me, both the comic book rendition and the (2006) action figure looked goofy rather than the "tough and determined soldier" the 2006 file card made him out to be.

I wanted "Sgt. Misha" to have an actual code name. I found the name "Ruslan" listed on Oktober Guard wiki page with very little information concerning him. The only thing I can really find about this character is that he is an EOD specialist that looks more like arctic Shipwreck. With so many different (and some defunct) timelines in the comics (Horror Show, Stormavik, Schrage & Brekhov are now alive?!) I figured the name "Ruslan" is up for fair game and would make a great code name of Sgt. Misha (I mean, how many different Joe characters either share the same code name or filename?). In my Joeverse, Sgt. Misha aka Ruslan pulls double duty as the team's field medic.

Sgt. Misha's iconic look focuses more on his Panamanka hat and glasses. Instead of his typical round frames, I decided to opt for some glasses that looked a little more like military tactical wear. The hat is from the comic pack Sgt. Misha action figure. The body is an MTF Recon-Ops build with a Vanguard head. The glasses are some rectangular-type glasses I got free from Daremo's dojo. The backpack is from Red Star v.2, which I thought matched the Recon-Ops color scheme quite well.
