CLASS OF 1982 Code Name: GRUNT

Let me introduce you to face of G.I. Joe through most of the 1980s (you know that little icon in the corner of Marvel Comics). They guy that I thought was probably the most boring character at the time (so boring Marvel cut him from the team!) - GRUNT!

Apparently no one at Hasbro or Larry Hama had any better ideas than to simply make this character a foot soldier! Could have slapped a little Red Cross on his arm and made him a medic. Could have given him Snake Eyes' pouch and made him E.O.D. Nope! Just "Infantry!" At least the Falcon Glider version of Grunt came in tan, which was pretty cool (at the time) compared to all the green Joes.

So, my custom Grunt is actually based more on the 1983 v. 3 Grunt that came with the Falcon Glider, which was depicted in the comic with Airborne flying it - great way to sell another action figure, because there as no way to reenact "Pipeline Ploy" without Airborne piloting the Falcon Glider!!

Simple little kit-bashed custom.

Due to a SNAFU with the blog, some of the original pictures were lost and had to be copied from another site, which explains the smaller sizes. I've tried to enlarge and brighten the pictures from some of my original blog posts.
