CLASS OF 1982 Code Name: COBRA COMMANDER
Well, if mail-away action figures worked for Star Wars, how best to introduce the leader of the Cobra Legions in 1982 than by collecting Flag Points, putting them in an envelope, and waiting patiently by the mailbox for your very on COBRA COMMANDER action figure?!
The 50th Anniversary version of Cobra Commander is just about as perfect of a modern version of the original ARAH action figure as you can get. So, I decided to make a variant figure and do a little custom using the black uniform Cobra Commander from the 2-pack set.
Very simple custom, I removed the red paint from the bottom of the pants, swapped the red feet with some black feet from a Roadblock figure, and added the head sculpt from Retaliation Cobra Commander, and voila!
I had this idea for the Cobra Legion for my Joeverse for quite some time, and then a few years ago IDW introduced a (short-lived) comic series with the same idea. That is, that Cobra Legion has been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years - you know like the Illuminati! <wink, wink there's no such thing as the Illuminati - just the Freemasons! LOL!> The current Cobra Commander is simply the most recent leader in a long line of successors. Anyway, hopefully, I'll get to expand that idea further one day in a Photonovel series.
Due to a SNAFU with the blog, some of the original pictures were lost and had to be copied from another site, which explains the smaller sizes. I've tried to enlarge and brighten the pictures from some of my original blog posts.
